RET Program

The National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) sponsors fellowships for teachers and community college faculty at Georgia Tech and places the participants at NRC during the summer. Participants are actively engaged in research in our cleanroom and laboratories while working for seven weeks with a faculty member associated with NRC. They also develop a lesson that they implement in their science and or engineering class.

 Eight week non-residential program:

  • 7 weeks at the Nanotechnology Research Center
  • One week in-school and presentation of lesson at the NNIN RET Workshop for Educators (rotates among four NNIN sites each spring)

What’s all the buzz about nanotechnology? Nanotechnology is believed to be the next great technological revolution which will affect many aspects of our lives from electronics to medicine and from materials to privacy.  Come experience this exciting area of research.

The NNIN RET Program is funded by the National Science Foundation under the Research Experiences for Teachers Program.  The NNIN program is at four NNIN sites: Georgia Institute of Technology, Arizona State University, University of Minnesota, and University of California Santa Barbara. There are four participants at each site
